A field experiment was conducted during the rainy (kharif) season of 1
994 and 1995 to study the weed-control efficacy of 2 herbicides and 4
cultural or mechanical practics in rainfed fingermillet [Eleusine cora
cana (L.) Gaertn]. Maximum dry weight of weeds was recorded in weedy c
heck and minimum in the treatment with 2 hand-weedings. Due to herbcid
es, tile maximum reduction iii biomass of weeds was found in the plots
treated with 2, 4-D Nn-salt @ 0.75 kg ai/ha. All weed-control treatme
nts recorded higher grain yield than weedy check.
