Abstract
In this paper, we study the global existence of BV solutions for compr essible Euler equations with spherical symmetry and damping, using Gli mm's scheme. The key point to consider is the combination of the geome tric effects due to the spherical symmetry and the effects of the Fric tional damping on the total variation of the solutions. By measuring t he strength of the waves by r - s, where ( r, s) are the Riemann invar iants, we construct a function which leads to the boundedness of the B V norm of the corresponding approximate solutions.
