Abstract
Many recent publications on lobbying at the European Union level quest ion the position and role of established Eurogroups which represent bu siness interests. The federate Eurogroups in particular draw reservati ons from various observers. At the same time, the advantages of altern ative formulae far collectively defending and promoting business inter ests at the European Union level have been outlined. One example is th e direct membership Euro-association of companies. Another type of col lective business lobby at the European Union level that could also be an attractive alternative to relying on Euro-federations is the ad hoc coalition of companies. This article presents an exploratory case stu dy in which the latter is analysed.
