W. Kaiser et al., INTERVIEWER BIAS ON SUBJECTIVE QUALITY-OF -LIFE AND SATISFACTION WITHCARE IN SHELTERED LIVING, Psychiatrische Praxis, 25(3), 1998, pp. 142-148
The impact of interviewer-effects on subjective evaluative criteria wa
s examined in a randomized control group design (n=26x2) of clients of
sheltered living in Berlin-Spandau. The assessment of care and subjec
tive quality of life showed that clients were more satisfied if they h
ad been interviewed by their responsible caregivers compared to interv
iewers from other providers of the same region - unknown to the client
s. Conductibility of interviews was independent of interview condition
s. A systematic overestimation of satisfaction should be taken into ac
count if responsible caregivers interview their own clients. Such data
should not be used comparing different settings.
