Radiationless decay rates of the (1s(-1))P-2 and P-4 O II terms are ca
lculated and compared with recent experimental results of Caldwell and
Krause. In order to obtain the partial widths we analysed the resonan
t behaviour of the scattering matrix of the O2+ + e(-) diffusion for a
n electron incident energy around 500 eV. Assuming a thin plasma, expo
sed to a high energy photon source, we consider 1s-photoionization fol
lowed by Auger decays responsible for O III excited states production.
We considered this double process balanced by radiative decays. Some
O III line relative intensities are therefore estimated in astrophysic
al scenarios that may be found in active galactic nuclei.
