M. Pole, EARLY MIOCENE FLORA OF THE MANUHERIKIA GROUP, NEW-ZEALAND .6. LAURACEAE, Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand, 23(4), 1993, pp. 303-312
Three species of Lauraceae are described from Miocene sediments of the
Manuherikia Group, Central Otago, New Zealand. One species is mummifi
ed, with anatomical detail, and is placed into the organ-genus Lauroph
yllum. It is regarded as the same taxon as Cryptocarya longfordiensis
Holden, which is removed to Laurophyllum in the absence (for now) of a
means to distinguish it from some other Lauraceae genera. The other t
wo species are impressions only, and are regarded as Lauraceae on arch
itectural detail.
