Abstract
PLLA prosthesis wore surgically implanted in sound pattelar ligaments of 12 goats. Only one patellar ligament of each goat was operated. Mor phological and mechanical parameters of the prosthetic ligaments were evaluated 114 and 175 days after the surgery and then compared with ch ase of the sound limb. It was demonstrated that the implantation of a PLLA prosthesis in this ligament induce an acute ligamentar inflammati on visible at 114 days which remain chronic. This ligamentar reaction is associated with bone remodelings due to a femoro-patellar arthropat hy. This study demonstrated that the prothesis did not modify the mech anical parameters considered (force and strain at rupture).
