OVARIECTOMY OF THE SLIDER TURTLE TRACHEMY S-SCRIPTA ELEGANS BY LATERAL WAY

Slider turtles, Trachemys scripta elegans, released in the natural fie ld are competitors of European protected turtles. Their reproduction s hould increase this hazard. Simple intervention of ovariectomy by late ral way is described. After a note on the physiology and the anatomy o f chelonians, the intervention is evaluate with care of the place of l ife (terrarium or semi-natural field) and the ovarian cycle. Two table s summary the major antibiotics and anesthesics used for chelonians.
