Abstract
Imperfect transmission of block-coded images often results in lost blo cks. A novel error concealment method called best neighborhood matchin g (BNM) is presented by using a special kind of information redundancy -blockwise similarity within the image. The proposed algorithm can uti lize the information of not only neighboring pixels, but also remote r egions in the image. Very good restoration results are obtained by exp eriments.
