Abstract
Smelt (Osmerus mordax) were netted from Cayuga Lake in Central New Yor k State and analyzed for mercury concentration. There was no statistic al significance (p > 0.05) when attempting to correlate mercury concen tration with fish length or weight for either sex. Factors affecting m ethylation, demethylation and absorption of mercury are discussed. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
