Abstract
In situ FT-IR spectroscopy has been used to identify for the first tim e an unusually stable molecular CO2 species at ca. 2337 cm(-1) on a po lycrystalline silver catalyst; it is proposed that adsorption occurred at silver sites modified by the presence of subsurface oxygen species , which were located in the vicinity of grain boundary defects.
