Abstract
PNS ceramics present piezoactivity under an applied d.c. bias field. T he relative dielectric permittivity varies, in general over a wide ran ge of values of the applied d.c. electric field. The purpose of this w ork is to study the induced piezoactivity effect produced by an applie d d.c. electric field in the 3(1 - x)PMN - xPT (x = 0.1) system assumi ng that the relative dielectric permittivity is a function of the appl ied d.c. electric field. An expression to calculate the electrostricti ve coefficient Q(31) by measuring the coupling factor K, and the diele ctric permittivity as functions of the applied electric field is prese nted.
