PURPOSE: To review the clinical findings and implications of central s
erous retinopathy in patients with leukemia. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A c
ase report is presented and the literature was reviewed. RESULTS: The
procedures commonly used to confirm leukemic involvement of the eye ha
ve historically Been invasive. Ocular involvement in these patients ge
nerally heralds a poor prognosis. CONCLUSIONS: B-scan ultrasonography
can he considered for the work-up of central serous retinopathy in pat
ients with leukemia. Aggressive therapeutic intervention should begin
immediately when ocular signs occur.
