A patient with a history of lung carcinoma complained of decreased vis
ual acuity OS. Ophthalmoscopically, three round lesions without retina
l detachment were observed OO, and two yellowish lesions were found OS
. The lesions in the right fundus were treated with dye laser photocoa
gulation. Subsequently no retinal detachment developed OD. After the p
atient died, histopathologic study showed the disorganized retina prol
iferation of papillary adenocarcinoma in the choroid, and no retinal d
etachment. We believe that dye laser photocoagulation is suitable trea
tment to prevent retinal detachment, hut is inadequate to treat metast
atic choroidal tumor completely.
