In this paper we report about dermatomycosis in day geckos of the spec
ies Phelsuma m. madagascarlensis, which were imported from Madagaskar.
The animals showed multiple round papules without pigmentation in the
skin, which tended to confluate. Treatment was not successful. Two an
imals died two weeks after arrival and one was euthanized. Histologic
investigations revealed necrotizing dermatitis with mononuclear and ps
eudoeosinophilic infiltration. We found septated and ramified hyphae w
hich were identified as Trichophyton terrestre, DURIE et FREY (1957) i
n pure culture from skin lesions.
