Abstract
It is proved that the convergence radii rho(n) of the eigenvalues of t he Mathieu equation satisfy lim inf rho(n)/n(2) greater than or equal to kk'K-2 = 2.0418..., where the modulus Ic of the complete elliptic i ntegrals is determined by 2E = K.
