The charge-transfer reactions of ground state Ti4+ (3p(6), S-1) with A
r and N-2 were studied in a quadrupole r.f. ion trap at the mean colli
sion energy of 4.55 eV. The rate coefficients were measured to be 1.06
(0.14) x 10(-9) cm(3)/s for Ti4+ with Ar at an equilibrium temperature
of 1.6 x 10(4) K and 7.45(0.38) x 10(-10) cm(3)/s for Ti4+ with N-2 a
t an equilibrium temperature of 1.3 x 10(4) K. Both results are compar
