Abstract
We discuss two methods for studying atoms in short, intense laser puls es. In the single active electron case, a B-Splines expansion of the r adial wavefunction is used, and a high level of accuracy is achieved. In the case of two active electrons, we expand on a correlated atomic basis constructed within a finite box, Illustrative results are shown.
