Abstract
We describe the structure and functions a new surgical W ophthalmic la ser system Medilex for use with ArF (193 nm) or KrCl (223 nm) excimer lasers for corneal surgery. The system Medilex with the new optical de livery system is used for photoablative reprofiling of the cornea to c orrect refraction errors (myopia and hyperopia) and to treat corneal p athologies. The advantages of using the KrCl excimer laser (223 nm) fo r photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) over the traditional ArF excimer l aser (193 nm) are presented.
