Abstract
Piezoelectric properties of niobium doped Pb(ScNb)(1/2)O-3 :PbTiO3 [PS N:PT] ceramics near the morphotropic phase boundary are investigated. The piezoelectric coupling factors k(p) approximate to 82%, k(31) = 48 %, k(33) = 77%, and k(t)= 57% are measured. In good samples, values of remanent polarization of 40.81 mu C/cm(2) and the mechanical quality factor, Q(m) less than 10 show the potential of the material for desig ning high sensitivity and wide bandwidth sensors and transducers.
