Abstract
A new concept for analogue-to-digital conversion is proposed and demon strated. The analogue signal is stretched in time prior to sampling an d quantisation. Time stretching increases the input bandwidth and samp ling rate of the ADC and is best implemented using optoelectronic tech niques.
