This work introduces some uncoupling techniques for solving the three-
dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in the vorticity-ve
locity representation. Without any loss of essential aspects, the anal
ysis is conducted for the case of the underlying Stokes system. For so
me of these uncoupled formulations, only scalar problems defined on th
e boundary of the flow domain need to be solved, in order to determine
the key field in the methodology, that is, a suitable harmonic compon
ent of the vorticity.
