Abstract
We propose an approach to the numerical study of quantum spin systems. Our method is based on the fact that one can use any set of states fo r the path integral as long as it is a complete set. We apply our meth od to one-dimensional quantum spin systems with next-to-nearest-neighb or interactions. We find significant improvement in the negative-sign problem.
