The complete connected skeleton of a gelding above twelve years old, w
as excavated in a gallo-roman cemetery of Rodez (France). The horse wa
s lying on its left-hand side, with its head directed to the West and
its limbs flexed. Reaching nearly 1,40 m at the withers, the animal wa
s slenderly built and exhibited lesions including deforming and ankylo
sing spondylosis, fusion of the metacarpals and mild ring bone of the
fore digits.
