Abstract
The microscopic examination of the digestive content (stomach and crop ) in 2 parrots.which died together and suddenly, showed a poisoning by common elder leaves (Sambucus nigra L). The authors describe the micr oscopic examination which allowed to establish the diagnosis, then the y present a bibliographical recall on the toxicity of the common elder in connection with sambunigrin, a cyanogenetic glycoside, to confirm their hypothesis.
