Abstract
Manifestations of the incommensurate modulation in the optical spectra were analyzed on the example of A(2)MeX(4) type compounds with alkyl ammonium cation. It has been shown that the mentioned materials are ch aracterized by different kinds of the thermooptic memory effect. Besid es, nonfulfilment of the empiric Urbach rule was also considered as a peculiar feature of the incommensurate phases. The nature of this phen omenon has been explained on the basis of data of vibrational spectros copy.
