Abstract
Desulfurization of the thione function of N-arylthiosemicarbazides inc orporated in a heterocyclic ring was achieved with 30 % hydrogen perox ide in acetic acid. This reagent proved superior for the title transfo rmation of thiones (1) into 2-unsubstituted 1H-imidazoles (5). In addi tion, structurally related substrates were also subjected to this proc edure.
