We propose an approach which takes the Pauli principle and pion distor
tion into account to investigate the p-wave absorption/emission mechan
ism of the double charge exchange reaction. The ground state to ground
-state processes Te-128(pi(+),pi(-))Xe-128 and Te-130(pi(+), pi(-))Xe-
130 are discussed in the new approach. Excitation functions with a max
imum energy distribution at T-pi approximate to 50 MeV have been obtai
ned. The calculated differential cross sections at theta(Lab.) = 30 de
grees with T-pi approximate to 50 MeV and their ratio agree well with
experimental data and depend only slightly on the particle-particle in
teraction parameter g(pp) Results indicate that the Pauli principle lo
wers the cross section and stabilizes its dependence on g(pp) evidentl
y while pion distortion reduces the cross section in the energy region
above the resonance.
