E. Pedretti et al., TECHNOLOGY, TEXT, AND TALK - STUDENTS PERSPECTIVES ON TEACHING AND LEARNING IN A TECHNOLOGY-ENHANCED SECONDARY SCIENCE CLASSROOM, Science education (Salem, Mass.), 82(5), 1998, pp. 569-589
Now is a time of rapid technological changes. These changes are inevit
ably felt in schools as multimedia technologies are introduced into th
e classroom. The case study reported in this article examines the teac
hing and learning impact of technology from the perspective of student
s participating in a long-term study of technology implementation. The
study is situated within the context of the Technology-Enhanced Secon
dary Science Instruction (TESSI) project, a longitudinal, field-based
research program of technology integration into secondary science clas
srooms. The article describes the technological and pedagogical impact
s that emerge from the interplay between the implemented technologies
and the social milieu of the classroom. The voices and multiple perspe
ctives of students provide the focus for this study. (C) 1998 John Wil
