Redescription of M. hagmeieri, type-species of the genus Metepsilonern
a, based on the study of populations from the North Sea and the Channe
l. M. emersum is considered a synonym of the type-species M. hagmeieri
. M. lorenzeni sp. nov. is described from the Mediterranean Sea; it is
mainly characterized by a large number of non-overlapping annuli with
a thick cuticle and wide inner lumen and long spicules. M. hagmeieri
sensu Lorenzen 1973 is attributed to the new species M.lorenzeni.
