A. Khan et al., EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS FOR THE ZERO-VOLTAGE-SWITCHING ISOLATED DC-TO-ACINVERTER, International journal of electronics, 85(2), 1998, pp. 217-230
In this paper, a simplified design procedure and experimental results
for a DC-to-AC inverter with zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) and output e
lectrical isolation are given. The isolation of the output stage is im
portant in many applications and this topology can be implemented for
power factor correction. Two switches operate in complementary fashion
to control the operation of the converter and provide transformer cor
e resetting. The resonance between the parasitic capacitances, transfo
rmer magnetizing inductance, and output side output power and sets the
frequency of the output AC voltage. Using simplified steady state ana
lysis, input and output characteristic curves are derived for differen
t transformer ratios. Based on these curves, a design procedure with a
specific example supported by simulation results will be presented. P
reliminary experimental results of the prototype will also be presente
d.
