Abstract
Two vibrational progressions corresponding to transitions from the X ( 2)Sigma(1/2) electronic ground state to the excited A (2)Pi(1/2) and A (2)Pi(3/2) spin-orbit states for the Sr+Kr complex in the energy regi on between 22 000 and 23 750 cm(-1) are investigated by Laser photofra gmentation spectroscopy. From isotope-resolved measurements the absolu te numbering of the vibrational numbers is obtained and thus the vibra tional constants and the binding energies of the involved electronic s tates. The results are compared with similar systems and explained in the framework of an electrostatic potential model. (C) 1998 American I nstitute of Physics.
