Abstract
From spectra recorded at a resolution of 0.020 cm(-1) of the flame CH4 + O-2 at low pressure, six new vibrational transitions in Delta upsil on(3) = 1 with 2 upsilon(l) + upsilon(2) = 5 had been recently identif ied [D. Bailly et al., J. Mel. Spectrosc, 182, 10-17 (1996)] based on the HITRAN 92 predictions. New calculations have shown good consistenc y with our assignments except for one transition, namely, (21(1)1)(3)e --> (21(1)0)(-3)e for which discrepancies (reaching 0.2 cm(-1)) were found. It has been possible to resolve this issue using new emission s pectra of CO2, vibrationally excited by active nitrogen and recorded w ith a Fourier transform spectrometer at a resolution of 6.3 x 10(-3) c m(-1) in the 4-5 mu m spectral region.
