Abstract
We have developed a simulation code to study the energy loss distribut ion of energetic protons after traversing a thin amorphous carbon foil . The electronic interactions among the proton and the target electron s were taken into account using a realistic description of the solid, and the nuclear scattering events were considered by means of a Monte Carlo procedure. Our results compare fairly well with experimental ene rgy loss distributions. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
