The angular and energy distributions of the low energy potassium ions
scattered from a W(1 1 0) surface have been studied by computer simula
tions in the binary collision approximation. The structure of the ener
gy and angular distributions is strongly influenced by the geometrical
arrangement of the surface atoms and reveals the occurrence of many d
ifferent scattering mechanisms. The intensities of the single, double,
and several different zig-zag scattering features are characterized.
