Abstract
Data are presented on diode mesa stripe lasers utilizing InAsSbP/InGaA sSb double heterostructures, which are the first long-wavelength laser s to be doped with the rare-earth element gadolinium. It is shown that doping enhances the threshold characteristics. Measurements made of t he current modulation of the laser radiation indicate that these laser s may be used in spectroscopic measurements. (C) 1997 American Institu te of Physics.
