COMPARATIVE INVESTIGATIONS OF THE CELLULAR AND SUBCELLULAR-DISTRIBUTION OF BRAIN CREATINE-KINASE AND CA2-MG2+-ATPASE ACTIVITY OF CICHLID FISH AND DWARF HAMSTER()
K. Slenzka et al., COMPARATIVE INVESTIGATIONS OF THE CELLULAR AND SUBCELLULAR-DISTRIBUTION OF BRAIN CREATINE-KINASE AND CA2-MG2+-ATPASE ACTIVITY OF CICHLID FISH AND DWARF HAMSTER(), Comparative biochemistry and physiology. B. Comparative biochemistry, 107(1), 1994, pp. 85-90
Cellular (=total homogenate) and subcellular fractions (P1a-pellet, cy
tosolic fraction SN3, P4-pellet, P8-pellet, synaptosomal and synaptic
membrane fraction) of brain tissue of the cichlid fish Oreochromis mos
sambicus and the Djungarian dwarf hamster Phodopus sungorus were colle
cted and the distribution of creatine kinase (CK) and different Ca2+-M
g2+-ATPase activities in each fraction were studied. The data obtained
from cellular as well as from subcellular fractions indicate less CK,
Ca2+- and (Ca2+-Mg2+)-ATPase activities in cichlid fish than in hamst
er brain. The dwarf hamster expressed higher enzyme activity in the br
ain as compared to the cichlid fish only in regard to the Mg2+-ATPase
activity and with the exception of synaptic membranes.
