H. Richman et R. Nelsongray, NONCLINICAL PANICKER PERSONALITY - PROFILE AND DISCRIMINATIVE ABILITY, Journal of anxiety disorders, 8(1), 1994, pp. 33-47
Differences in personality between nonclinical panickers and nonpanick
ers in a college population were examined in two studies. In Study 1,
590 undergraduate students completed the Panic Attack Questionnaire (P
AQ), the Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM-III-R Personality D
isorders-II Self Report (SCID-II), and the Million Clinical Multiaxial
Inventory (MCMI). Nonclinical panickers evidenced more personality di
sorder symptomatology than nonpanickers on both the MCMI and SCID-II i
nventories. In Study 2, 288 undergraduates completed the SCID-II inven
tory, the Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI), the MMPI anxiety subsca
le (MMPI-A), the State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), the Barratt Imp
ulsiveness Scale (BIS), the Eysenck Impulsiveness Scale version 7 (I.7
), and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Personality profiles of no
nclinical panickers are discussed, as well as the ability of these per
sonality measures to discriminate between nonclinical panickers and no
npanickers.
