Abstract
A well developed section at the Berriasian-Valanginian boundary is des cribed. This section, located near Montbrun-les-Bains (Drome, SE Franc e) stands as a ''candidate'' for the boundary stratotype between these two stages. As the ammonite and calpionellid successions are well pre served, this section provides a workable ''Golden Spike'' for inter-re gional correlations and allows the proposed tethyan zonal scheme of th is stratigraphic interval.
