Abstract
A scanning tunneling microscope (STM) is used to create changes in the surface relief of titanium dioxide films containing adsorbed silver i ons. Structures measuring similar to 10 nm, which presumably consist o f silver particles, form on the film surface as a result of the applic ation of short pulses with an amplitude greater than or equal to 15 V to an STM probe operating in the tunneling-current regime.
