Abstract
Experiments designed to elucidate how the emission lines of the elemen ts of a laser plasma are affected by the presence of the atmosphere ar e described. It is shown that the generation of a shock wave when the plasma flare is ignited on the surface of ct target in the atmosphere leads to a shift of the center of the emission lines and to an increas e in their intensity.
