Abstract
A new type of propagating perturbations on a vortex filament - traveli ng vortex breakdown has been observed experimentally. A method of cont rolled external action on a vortex flow with known parameters is used. Data are obtained on the absolute propagation velocity of the perturb ations as a function of the conditions in the vortex chamber, which de termine the vortex characteristics.
