Abstract
We have investigated a model for coupling of molecular dynamics to ine lastic electronic excitations in a metal surface. The calculations fin d a vibrational relaxation time of a few picoseconds, in good agreemen t with earlier calculations and experimental predictions. (C) 1998 Els evier Science B.V.
