DETERMINATION OF THE CONTENT OF ASSOCIATE D URETHANE GROUPS IN CONCENTRATED POLY(BUTADIENEURETHANE) SOLUTIONS

The formation of hydrogen bonds in concentrated poly(butadieneurethane ) solutions in carbon tetrachloride, pentadecane, transformer oil, and dioctyl sebacate, that are used as plasticizers, was studied by the I R spectroscopy. The content of associated urethane groups was determin ed at various concentrations of a low-molecular-weight component. The results obtained correlate with variations in the mechanical propertie s of elastomers on their swelling in polar or weakly polar liquids and can be used for the prediction of these properties.
