A. Mackieh et C. Cilingir, EFFECTS OF PERFORMANCE SHAPING FACTORS ON HUMAN ERROR, International journal of industrial ergonomics, 22(4-5), 1998, pp. 285-292
This paper presents the findings of an experimental study, conducted f
or the purpose of examining the effects of some personal and environme
ntal factors on the errors made by nuclear reactor operators. A comput
er simulation of the control board, of a 10 kW university training nuc
lear reactor (UTR-10), was used to test the performance shaping factor
s (PSFs) affecting the errors of the operators. One hundred and twenty
subjects participated in the experiments. Effects of; motor variables
, decision-making mechanism, complexity of information presented, inte
lligence levels and emotional states of subjects on the errors committ
ed by the operators were analyzed.
