Ph. Hwang et Cs. Maas, CORRECTION OF THE TWISTED NOSE DEFORMITY - A SURGICAL ALGORITHM USINGTHE EXTERNAL RHINOPLASTY APPROACH, American journal of rhinology, 12(3), 1998, pp. 213-220
Successful correction of the twisted nose is challenging due to the co
mplex nature of the underlying anatomic deformity. Although the litera
ture has in general supported endonasal rhinoplasty techniques for the
twisted nose, we propose a surgical algorithm using the external rhin
oplasty approach. The algorithm offers a stepwise, structured method t
hat is adaptable to individual variations in anatomic deformity. The a
dvantages and relative disadvantages of the external rhinoplasty appro
ach are discussed, and a clinical experience of 30 patients is reviewe
d. Application of the external rhinoplasty algorithm in correction of
the twisted nose can yield consistently satisfactory functional and ae
sthetic results.
