in this report, transition of solidified phases in unidirectionally so
lidified Fe-Cr-Ni alloys was investigated in low growth rate range usi
ng Bridgman type furnace. The ferrite-austenite eutectic growth was co
nfirmed under low growth rate condition like a plane front growth of f
errite single phases. The transition velocity between eutectic and fer
rite cell growth had a good agreement with the result of calculation b
ased on the phase selection criterion and the interface temperature ca
lculation for ferrite, austenite and eutectic phases. These results sh
ow that the phase prediction by calculating interface temperature can
be applied no? only to competitive growth between single phases like p
eritectic systems, but also to eutectic systems. Furthermore, under th
e condition of eutectic coupled growth to be occurred in steady stare,
the changes of solidified phases and their morphologies in the initia
l transient are-also discussed.
