M. Skrzypczynska, RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE NUMBER OF SEEDS IN THE CONES OF ABIES-ALBA MILL AND THEIR INFESTATION WITH MEGASTIGMUS-SUSPECTUS BORR (HYM, TORYMIDAE), Journal of applied entomology, 122(4), 1998, pp. 145-148
A study was conducted on the interrelationships between the total numb
er of seeds in a cone of Abies alba Mill. and the numbers of seeds via
ble, infertile and infested with the larvae of Megastigmus suspectus B
orr. The study made use of the seeds obtained from the cones collected
in southern Poland in the Babia GC,ra National Park and its surroundi
ngs in 1991 and 1993 as well as in the Gorce National Park during 1994
-95. A total of 376 cones with 112 136 seeds were designated for the s
tudy. The data obtained were subjected to statistical analysis using t
he Kolmogorov-Smirnov's test and the Student's t-test. Also, a coeffic
ient of linear correlation was calculated. No unequivocal correlation
was found between the relationships mentioned above.
