C. Behling et al., RESPONSE OF QUARTZ-CRYSTAL RESONATORS TO GAS AND LIQUID ANALYTE EXPOSURE, Sensors and actuators. A, Physical, 68(1-3), 1998, pp. 388-398
The electrical response of chemical bulk acoustic wave sensors depends
on changes in the surface mass loading and changes in the viscoelasti
c properties of the coating material. We consider here the acoustic be
haviour and the electrical response of a quartz-crystal resonator to c
hanges in surface mass and shear parameters of the coating material. B
oth a glassy and a rubbery polymer have been investigated. The frequen
cy changes of an oscillator are calculated from a full transmission-li
ne model, an impedance approximation and Sauerbrey's or Martin's equat
ion. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
