Av. Zagnitko et al., THE ELECTROPHORETIC VELOCITY AND DEPOSITION OF PARTICLES OF FINELY DISPERSED CERAMIC POWDERS IN DIMETHYLFORMAMIDE, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 60(3), 1998, pp. 284-288
The electrophoretic velocity and mobility in dimethylformamide of part
icles of finely dispersed powders of silicon carbide and eutectic mixt
ures of aluminum, magnesium, yttrium, and zirconium oxides with differ
ent chemical compositions and particle size distributions were determi
ned by the.electrophoresis technique at the strength of the external e
lectric field E-0 less than or equal to 150 V/cm. The motion of partic
les in dimethylformamide and their deposition on coarsely-porous ceram
ics at E-0 less than or equal to 300 V/cm were studied by the moving b
oundary macroscopic method. Values of the zeta-potential for positivel
y charged particles were calculated by the Helmholtz-Smoluchowski form
ula. Filtration properties of the electrophoretic coatings of multilay
er ceramic membranes are considered.
